Guarding a site

is one of the exercises you’ll find in the rules for French Ring and Mondioring. Training for this exercise should begin at a very early stage of the dog’s development. Usually, 12 weeks of age is a good starting point (for Malinois, Dutch Shepherds and working lines of German Shepherds).

In Ring, the object is always a basket, which makes it slightly easier to establish habits in the dog; in Mondioring, the object being guarded varies – it may be a basket, but it does not have to be.
