Beauceron – a few words about the breed

The French Beauceron is a breed of dog with a long and fascinating history. It is a herding dog that originates from the Île-de-France region of France. The Beauceron was originally bred as a herding dog to assist shepherds in guarding and herding flocks of sheep.

Over the centuries, the Beauceron has been used for various tasks, including as a guard dog and a rescue dog. Due to its intelligence, courage and obedience, the Beauceron is also popular as a working dog, as well as a family pet.

Its distinctive physical features, such as its black and red coat, large and muscular build, and triangular ears, make it easily recognisable. The French Shepherd Beauceron is a breed with a rich historical background, which will always be regarded as an important part of French culture.

Practicality

A Beauceron from a working line is not the easiest dog to look after. There are times when its temperament resembles that of a Malinois, though it is less agile due to its size. It is a relatively heavy dog and, taking its age into account, one must also consider its physical capabilities and tailor training to minimise the risk of injury.

Beauceron (French Shepherd) – Django

Django is a dog from a working line (show ring, Mondioring) and was not purchased by chance. I was very keen to find a genetic line that would be a continuation of the dogs I knew 20 years ago. He is a very cheerful dog, likes people and remains neutral towards dogs that react aggressively towards him. He does not get into conflicts with other dogs. He is a stable and mentally strong dog for his age and breed. He likes to play and has a strong hunting instinct. He is well-behaved in a domestic setting.
